JUAN SAYS: There is no doubt that Filipino drama movies sell because of its ability to relate to the public. In a culture where we are shushed to silence when we feel like talking about our feelings, we troop to the movies as a way of venting what we feel. We are proud of Pinoy screenwriters for capturing the very words that we wish to say, dramatic or otherwise. We laugh at the dialogues, we sometimes say that they are baduy, but in reality, it is what our hearts want to express all along. Eh ano naman ngayon kung baduy, sa yun naman ang totoo. This facebook post by Erimar Ortigas couldn’t come at a better time, after the success of “That Thing Called Tadhana” and “English Only Please,” we are humbly reminded that these two movies aren’t exactly the start of this phenomenon. Can you remember the first movie you ever went: “OMG! Taena ako yan teh! Ako yan!”
