Tandem

In the traffic-laden streets of Metro Manila, two brothers use the chaos of the city roads as a smokescreen for their shady occupation: tandem robbers on motorbike. But when a robbery goes sour, the brothers are forced to graduate from low-level thieves to high profile hit men in an act that tests both their resolve and their relationship.

Tandem explores the real life crime of tandem robberies and hired killers in the Philippines, where men on motorbikes use the chaos of the Metro Manila streets as a means of getting away with their crime.

Tandem had its world premiere at the Montreal International Film Festival. After which, it participated at the Vancouver International Film Festival and Cairo International Film Festival. It is slated to have its European premiere at the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Oporto, Portugal, one of Europe’s premiere fantastic film festivals.

About the Director

kingKing Palisoc is a Filipino director whose body of work ranges from music videos and TV commercials to television shows and film. Graduating with a degree in B.A Communications from the Ateneo de Manila University, King went straight to pursuing a career in filmmaking, directing music videos for established local acts in the Philippines. Likewise, he has also worked as director and writer for the TV show “Rakista”, and became a member of the Concept Development group for Star Cinema Productions, Inc, where he co-wrote his first feature-length film “Babe, I Love You.” King first made his mark in the video industry by earning the nomination for Music Video of The Year (for Pupil’s “Dulo ng Dila”) at the Awit Awards in 2006, which was also listed as one of the 50 Best OPM Music Videos of all time by FHM Magazine. In 2008 and 2010, he received awards for the same category at the NU Rock Awards for the music videos of Pupil (Monobloc) and Tanya Markova (Disney), respectively. In 2012, King started venturing into narrative filmmaking by directing and producing the acclaimed short documentary “Paalam Pilipinas” (Farewell Philippines). His short feature-length film entitled “Makina” (Machine) is the second installment of the crime drama anthology film “Bang Bang Alley”, and was released under Curve Entertainment in 2014. Tandem is his first full length feature film.

About the Producers

The producers of Buchi Boy Films and Tuko Films are also the brainchild of Artikulo Uno Productions, the maker of the historical epic film, Heneral Luna. The company has defied commonly held formulae in the Philippine entertainment industry and embarked on this feat to great success. Today, they continue working on original Filipino content helping filmmakers who have participated in local film festivals such as the QCinema and the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. Quantum Films has a long filmography of quality independent films with over a decade of experience. Some of its more popular titles include Kobrador, Here Comes the Bride, Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and last year’s MMFF sleeper hit, English Only, Please. Its films have toured the world over competing in some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals in Toronto, Venice, Moscow, Berlin, Busan, among others and has won various local awards.
