26 Feb OSCARS: The Tale of the Red Carpet

JUAN SAYS: Our resident fashion expert is at it again. We asked her to watch the Oscars (as if it wasn’t on her to-do list), threw some pictures and challenged her crazy mind to give us a lowdown why we liked and didn’t like some of the dresses. Wishing that our Fashion, Visual Concept Director Patricia Coronado could join the Fashion Police and blurt out her “rock my world” comments that would surely make the audience laugh.

RED CARPET Rampa Winnurs (From L-R): Emma Stone, Marion Cotillard, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, Faith Hill, Anna Kendrick, Rosamund Pike

Red carpet rampa winnurs

Emma Stone – Glittery Acid Green Gown by Elie Saab

PATRICIA SAYS: You don’t have to be on acid to love this look on Emma but you have to be stoned if you did not like it. We’d love to have your body teh! Sige na nga, wag na lang body, bank account mo na lang?! I don’t want be “feeling close” to Emma Stone though. Si Kris Aquino nga hindi pumasa, ako pa kaya!

Marion Cotillard in Raf Simons of Christian Dior

PATRICIA SAYS: Mareng Marion has been consistent with her fashion risks and does it flawlessly every single time. And THIS is how you take fashion risks, with subtle confidence, kesehodang naka-duster lang kayo! Pero duster na gawa ng Dior! I am sure that many don’t like this look even Fashion Police bashed it in their very recent episode. But who cares? Bet ko siya.

Lupita Nyong’o – Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein Collection

PATRICIA SAYS: Another favorite kumareh. Sa Greenhills daw nanggaling ang 6,000 pearls na ginamit sa gown niya, according to reliable sources. Charot. Patola! Kahit na kasing bigat ko ang gown na suot ni kumareh, super patok ang pag aura ni Lupita sa red carpet. Award! Crown! She was light as a feather… duster… Chariing!

Gwyneth Paltrow – Ralph and Russo

PATRICIA SAYS: I remember during the 2011 Emmys, she got flack from wearing a black sequined cropped top with a high waist floor length skirt by Emilio Pucci… chakah raw! Eh ano kayo ngayon mga baklah, lahat kayo naka crop top ngayon! The reviews are 50-50 about this dress but I’m lovin’ it. This woman is a trendsetter. In a few months, I am willing to bet my pinky finger that you will also don an enormous flower, sprouting from your noses. This is a corsage that will last forever, hindi nalalantah!

Cate Blanchett in John Galliano, Maison Margiela and Tiffany and Co. statement necklace

PATRICIA SAYS: The anti-semitic takes the red carpet. I don’t mean Cate but the designer. But c’mmon, bekis let’s give John a chance. He is extremely creative with a touch of racism but he may have changed through the years. With his impressive resume in fashion, any fashion brand would certainly win from it. There probably won’t be a lot of Jews buying from the brand but there are loads of Galliano fans out there.
Oh but about the dress, love the Black on the Blanch and that statement necklace from Tiffany, I want!

Faith Hill – J. Mendel

PATRICIA SAYS: you don’t have to be booby to take the plunge as Faith showed us. This whole look just works with that Ellen DeGeneres hair. Would love to see this gown on the beautiful, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo. Paging, friendship Eric Pe Benito and Tita Vivian Recio.

Anna Kendrick – Custom-made coral silk georgette by Thakoon Panichgul

PATRICIA SAYS: Not a lot noticed the style of this actress but she does it for me every time she is on the carpet. She may not be a veteran on show stopping carpet moments yet but I think she is getting there. Call mo kohh, Anna! Bakulawin natin silah!

Rosamund Pike – Givenchy Haute Couture

PATRICIA SAYS: A bed of rosas for Rosamund. This wins best fit for me. This is when you say ‘fit to perfection’ but this is where I will take a risk and put a bloody red lip on her, para matchee-matchee, from carpet, dress, lips and undies!

Best in drama dress award  – or “Halimawan sa Red Carpet”

 Lady Gaga in Alaia

PATRICIA SAYS: I expected nothing less from this lady or I will go gaga. I love the drama of this gown, the hair, the oversized armhole for a peek of her side boob tats, the red and the white clash/combination, and gloves, probably, teaching Amal Clooney a thing or two on the gloves department. But I would have loved to see a smidgen of her footwear, even just a tiny bit, a toe would do. She has drama! She is gaga!

Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab

PATRICIA SAYS: Of course, she will bring it. She brings it every time! She brings her two globes with her all the time! Haha. But seriously, Jlo knows how to serve it. And we just pick up our jaws from the floor and watch her. Kulang nalang ang forever man candy by her side. Labas tayo, ‘tehhh!

Laura Dern – love-the-gown-but-I-would-have-taken-out-the-necklace –Alberta Ferretti

PATRICIA SAYS: The stunning metallic gown was enough. She did not need that necklace. And a little hair pulling would be good, not the 50 shades kind of hair pulling, but some clean up hairstyling would’ve sealed the deal. This would have been a winnurrr, kumulang at umover lang.

Solange Knowles – I-would-have-put-a-long-necklace-in-Christian Siriano

PATRICIA SAYS: This ensemble is not so popular to a lot of netizens but I love it. Though it lacks some accessorizing. I would’ve put a long chain statement necklace on this momma to lock it in.

Over Over

 Scarlett Johannsen

PATRICIA SAYS: Mahal kita pero… may chikinini ka ba today? I love the unpaired earrings she used. Nasipat niyo ba mga, bekizens? Put a similar necklace of Margot Robbie on her or that unpaired earrings would have made enough of a statement in Versace already.

Felicity Jones in Alexander McQueen

PATRICIA SAYS: Too much dress for this lady.

Wit Ko Masyado Beth

Julianne Moore in Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld

PATRICIA SAYS: I just did not like this custom made gown on her, PERO, gawan ka ng gown ni Mang Karl di mo susuotin?! And that is the P500 question. Gawan ka ng gown ng isang Karl Lagerfeld pero chakah ang aura sayo, susuotin niyo ba bekizens?

Chloe Grace Moretz in Miu Miu

PATRICIA SAYS: Bagay toh keh Mommy Dionisia. Givenchii mo nalang keh Mommy D toh, niii.

Dakota Johnson in Yves Saint Laurent

PATRICIA SAYS: She’s got style but I personally don’t like the neckline of this dress. The boobs look uneven. Are they? Were they damaged in her movie “50 Shades of Grey” with too much errrr… acting? There is something about symmetry in style that’s very important, especially with boobs. ‘Nuff said.

Nicole Kidman

PATRICIA SAYS: Nalokah ako sa belt ni Nicole! Para siyang caution tape na pula sa crime scenes. Sorry, that is what I imagined.

Playing Safe

 Reese Witherspoon By Tom Ford

PATRICIA SAYS: Really safe. Di siya mabubuntis sa sobrang pagka safe.

Jennifer Aniston in Versace but-I-would-change-the-hair

PATRICIA SAYS: I am an Aniston fan, as ehn fanessa ako ni atehh! I love her gown but it seems like she needs some style pick up on the hair and make up department. But ‘tehhh wag ka magalit sakin, mahal na mahal kita. Say hi to me when I see you.

Not for the Oscars but I Luvvv

 Keira Knightley in Valentino

PATRICIA SAYS: I love this romantic dress! This would make for a fantastic editorial shoot gown. At least ‘di na siya mukang buntis na clown na natubuan ng butterfly. I also love the nipis of her butas ng ilong! Hong Nipis! Jinggiterz!

Peplum Abloom during the Oscar’s 2015

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu

PATRICIA SAYS: I am not scandalized by this ensemble. She looks like money on this ensemble. Elegance.

Jennifer Hudson in a butter Romona Keveza

PATRICIA SAYS: Ang sexy na niya, huhhh!
