06 Aug The New Kind of Lonely
JUAN SAYS: Have you ever been in this situation where you find your self snapping a selfie after work out, or preparing a picture of yourself nailing a pole trick and realizing you no longer have anyone to send it to? As we reached the advent of social media and the internet, our relationships have followed suit (Read additional story here). Relationships have evolved from human interactions to barely sending text or viber messages, and worse, “seenzoned.” It’s seen yes, but we do not get any response from the other party which to many of us, men and women alike, drive us to the brink of insanity thinking, “what on earth does he/she think of what I sent?” Being involved w someone through Viber messages, likes on Instagram, and playing the seen zoned game is not fun. Life as we know it, shouldn’t be reduced to mere messages that can easily be misinterpreted by the receiving party. In many ways, we have always preferred things to be said, straight from someone’s mouth, literally.
This is the new kind of lonely, having a relationship over the computer or phone screen. Trying to be happy without the magic of touch or proximity.
