17 Dec The Hypocrisy of Some Filipinos
JUAN SAYS: We are not for Mar Roxas, nor have we decided to vote for him. But here is something that we don’t get. We impulsively acclaim people who have 1/8 or a 1/4 blood Filipino when they are making it in Hollywood, auditioning for American Idol, or singing their hearts out in other talent competitions, yet we are too quick to judge those who take part in the electoral process, wanting a better Philippines, and actually hoping that the candidates they support would bring the country to the next level, just because their citizenship is foreign yet their blood is truly 50% if not 100% Pinoy. How different are they from those that we put on the pedestal when all they carry is a different colored passport? Is this the current state of hypocrisy in our country? If citizenship is that important to all of us, why then do we cheer on foreigners living abroad and claiming them to be our blood and from our country when they too have clearly renounced the country by pledging allegiance to a different flag?
