JUAN SAYS: Lest we forget. Not so many months ago, a group of religious protesters trooped to EDSA to block the Friday traffic because of a grievance that should have been kept indoors. To take it further than the courts is seriously tantamount to tantrum throwing. But no, the privileged few found it necessary to demonstrate their drama along the longest and biggest thoroughfare in the country pestering thousands upon thousands of commuters and motorists, leaving many stranded.
Admittedly, we were all pissed.
As we move forward five days prior to election, may this article serve as a reminder that the entitlement of the INC came from an age old tradition of this particular religion endorsing a particular Presidential candidate, promising a good million votes just because they feel like it.
We don’t think so.
As we have all observed this religious sect has bargained for a good number of positions in government and certain privileges that only they and the one that they are endorsing know for certain. As our train of thought would allow us to go, every thing that they would ask for is for self preservation – all for 1.5M members. Just for them.
Don’t we all think that this is rather unfair considering that there are 100M Filipinos today? And just for a fraction of that, we the vast majority of Filipinos are sold at the price of 1 million votes? Don’t we all feel cheated that most of us are trampled upon by a mere promise of bloc voting?
Truth be told, we are tired of bringing our issues to EDSA. Truth be told, what has EDSA brought us ba talaga? Change? Freedom? Cory?
We are done. Done with government officials favoring religious sects. We are done bringing our issues to the streets. We are sick and tired of promises, of changes that we expected but never come to realize. We are done with sick bastards running the government, the army taking lands of indigenous people for gold; farmers crying for food; and KRIS AQUINO STILL ON TELEVISION.
