29 Jun Art Shouldn’t Come Cheap
JUAN SAYS: A woman found on the streets of Buendia draws these beautiful pictures and sells them for P15 each. This clearly illustrates our theory: “kung gusto maraming paraan, kung ayaw maraming bullshit. “ Talents like these shouldn’t come cheap, and that is coming from someone who uses stick drawings to render images of people. We’d love to see her one of these days and buy all her drawings. Yeah, we believe in art for all. But do you think any art aficionado/art collector would beat us to it? We’d love to have faith in these so-called collectors, but some, well as we know, just buy art of the sake of having one hanging on their massive living rooms, not because they love it, but because they want to belong. And no, we are not talking about these people. We are talking about the real ones, those who know art when they see one. And those who are moved by the message of the artist as expressed through her work of art.
So what are you ranting about today again? Ah, it’s Monday.
